In this article, we’ll show you how to delete files from the Samsung Cloud, and even the Cloud account itself.

What Is the Samsung Cloud?

The Samsung Cloud is the proprietary Cloud storage service of the Samsung brand. It stores files of not only its mobile phones, but of its other devices as well. The account isn’t tied to a particular device, and many devices can share a single account. This allows for the sharing of files between them.

Deleting Files in the Cloud

To delete files in the Cloud, you can do the following:

  1. Swipe up and tap on Settings on your phone.
  2. On the menu look for Accounts and Backup and tap on it.
  3. Tap on Samsung Cloud. This will open the Samsung Cloud menu. Note that you may be required to enter login credentials.
  4. Tap on Samsung Cloud Drive.
  5. You’ll be shown a list of files that are currently on the Cloud. Press and hold on a file you want deleted. Once a file is checked, you can tap multiple files to delete them at the same time.
  6. Click on Delete.

Deleting the Cloud Account

Deleting your entire Samsung Cloud account will wipe everything that has been saved there. If you don’t wish to lose any data, download the files that you have saved. To delete the Cloud account entirely, follow these steps:

  1. Proceed to the Samsung Account website.
  2. When prompted, enter your login credentials.
  3. Click on the Profile Card. This will be the image with your Name, picture and email address.
  4. Click on Samsung Account Settings.
  5. Click on Delete Account.
  6. Tick on the circle confirming that you’re aware of the conditions for deleting your account.
  7. Click Delete.

Remember that deleting your Samsung account will also remove any purchase history, subscriptions, and profile information. Be warned. These can’t be recovered once deleted.

Managing Data Uploaded to the Cloud

If you notice that you keep on running out of space with your Cloud storage, it’s probably because you have multiple devices on the same account. The basic storage service has only 5GB of capacity, and this is shared between all devices registered to it.

If you routinely backup data, and also have Auto Sync enabled, your Cloud storage will fill up quickly. You can manage this through the Restore and Backup and Auto Sync options on your device. They can be accessed on your mobile by doing the following:

The Auto-Sync Function

As the name implies, the Auto-Sync function automatically updates your information from your phone to the Cloud. This is handy if you have numerous devices that share similar accounts like Facebook, Google, Messenger, and the like. This is accessible by going to Accounts and Backup under Settings and choosing Accounts.

You should be aware that an account that hasn’t been accessed for more than 12 months will be automatically deleted by the system. This includes the galleries, all backup data, and the profiles. Enabling auto-sync will prevent this, so keep it on if you don’t want this to happen. Alternatively, you can just log in every few months or so if you don’t fancy having auto-sync on.

Web Browser Access

The Samsung Cloud can also be accessed through a web browser. It’s recommended that you do this via Chrome. Although you can manage the gallery and device backups from here, you won’t be able to access any phone-related data like contacts and notes. This is useful for saving files to a larger storage device like a computer, or when you’re trying to empty the Cloud prior to deletion.

Useful Temporary Storage

The Samsung Cloud provides users of their devices temporary storage for when they need it. Though useful, it still leaves copies of your data online. Knowing how to delete these files makes it easy not only to manage your devices, but keep your information secure.
